Justin Bieber was accused of smoking marijuana by the paparazzo who was struck and killed by an oncoming car while attempting to photograph the singer.
Chris Guerra was killed on Tuesday evening (local time) as he attempted to cross Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles, where the pop star's white Ferrari was parked.
Justin's vehicle is said to have been pulled over by California Highway Patrol during a routine control, but the Baby singer was not behind the wheel.
The last person who spoke to the late photographer told TMZ Guerra was certain Bieber had been smoking marijuana while driving earlier in the day.
The source said he spoke to Guerra approximately an hour before the crash.
The insider spoke on condition of anonymity.
Los Angeles police officer James Stoughton confirmed an unidentified male died in hospital shortly after the incident.
He was hit by an oncoming car when he was advised by California Highway Patrol to step back because the situation was unsafe.
"Stoughton says no charges are likely to be filed against the motorist who hit the man," reported Fox News.
A spokesperson for the singer has yet to issue comment on the incident.
