Why Sasha Obama missed her dad's farewell speech
Being part of the First Family of the United States comes with many privileges, but it seems that getting out of school isn't one of them.
While the rest of her family sat in on her dad Barack Obama's final speech as President of the United States, 15-year-old Sasha Obama was absent. And the internet being the internet, people noticed.
Before long, social media users began giving their takes on her absence, with some speculating she might be refusing to vacate the White House.
Others were simply confused that she would miss the speech, especially when Obama began talking about his family and both Michelle and big sis Malia, 18, teared up.
Addressing both his daughters, the President thanked them and expressed his pride in being their father: "Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion," Obama said.

"You wore the burden of years in the spotlight so easily. Of all that I've done in my life, I'm most proud to be your dad."
The word finally came from a White House official, who told CBS News Sasha had sat out the speech to study for an exam being held in the morning.
