New Rotorua festival to mix mud and music
The headline musical acts have been announced for the 'Mudtopia' festival, with director Simon Brady promising something for everyone at the inaugural Rotorua festival.
Drum and bass legends Shapeshifter are to headline the three-day festival, with support from Hollie Smith, Anika Moa and former OpShop frontman Jason Kerrison.
Brady said further bands and DJs will be announced in the run up to the event, scheduled for December 1-3.
"Whether massive bangers from Shapeshifter gets you going, or chilling on the lawn in the sun enjoying Hollie Smith is more up your alley, you can mix and match your own live playlist over three jam-packed days at the Mud stage," Brady said.
The festival is inspired by South Korea's Boryeong Mud Festival and organisers are expecting more than 10,000 visitors to attend.
As well as the music on offer, Mud Pass ticket holders can get down and dirty in the Mud Arena, battle mates in the Mud Games Zone , challenge personal endurance levels with the Mud Run or simply unwind with wellness experiences in the Mud Day Spa and relax with food and drink available in licensed areas.
Mudtopia is beng held at the Rotorua race course with early bird tickets available at www.mudtopia.com.
