Soap star sacked for 'fondling breasts'
A star from soap opera The Young and the Restless has allegedly been fired for repeatedly groping co-star Hunter King.
Michael Muhney, 38, shocked fans of the soap opera last month when he was suddenly dismissed from his role as Adam Newman, who he has played since 2009.
While his "outpsoken nature" was initially cited as the reason for his departure, new reports allege that Muhney was fired due to sexual harassment.
According to TMZ, 20-year-old King complained about Muhney's inappropriate behaviour to executives. She supposedly claimed that Muhney "fondled her breasts" on two separate occasions, both of which were unsolicited and unwanted advances.
According to sources at gossip websites, it was the latest in a series of incidents involving the star bullying and harassing the cast and crew.
On December 17, Muhney confirmed that he was parting ways with the soap opera via Twitter.
I'm so sorry. It breaks my heart to say this, but I was just let go from Y&R. My last day on set is this Thursday.
My last air date will be Jan 30th. I'm going to take some private time with my wife & kids, as I am most concerned for their well-being...
The news of his behaviour has shocked fans worldwide. The daytime Emmy-nominated actor - and member of Mensa - is known as a devoted family man, who lives with his wife and three young children.
In an interview with The Huffington Post's Canada TV, Muhney explained that while the termination came as a shock, he "suspected it could happen," due to his behaviour on set.
"Sometimes I've walked around with a big backpack of hubris," he said. "This is entirely on me."
Representatives for Muhney, King and CBS have not responded to requests for comment by United States media.
Muhney's final appearance on the show will air in the US on January 30.
