A collection of Ralph Hotere art works, valued at close to $400,000, have been put up for auction by former National Business Review publisher Barry Colman.
Hotere is regarded as one of New Zealand's most prominent living artists. The 81-year-old painter and sculptor was appointed to the Order of New Zealand earlier this year.
About a dozen Hotere works from Colman's art collection will be sold in an auction at the International Art Centre in Auckland on November 22.
The works once hung on the walls of the historic Carey's Bay Hotel in Dunedin and include the Vive Aramoana, an oil on board completed by Hotere in 1982.
International Art Centre director Richard Thomson said it was not often that such a significant collection of Hotere's artwork went on sale.
Charles Goldie and Don Binney pieces will also be included in the auction.
