She does all her own stunts
By Margaret Agnew
Kiwi stuntwoman Zoe Bell, who started off doubling as Xena: Warrior Princess for Lucy Lawless and graduated to playing herself in QT's Grindhouse film Death Proof, now has her own online series. Bell plays Eve, a killer for hire, in Angel of Death on Crackle.com.
Bell, 30, who has also doubled for Uma Thurman (Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and Kill Bill: Vol. 2) and Sharon Stone (Catwoman), had to learn how to emote for the first time and do actor-y things like crying. It's no surprise, then, that she's the most convincing in the scenes where she's kicking butt or getting a massive knife stuck in her cranium.
Here's the first instalment of Angel of Death for your blood-splattered viewing pleasure... (don't click on the link if you're at all squeamish about knives or guns or dead people).
Bell is also back to doing stunts on the big screen - in her old mate QT's upcoming war film Inglourious Basterds, starring Brad Pitt. But she clearly has caught the acting bug: she will appear as a roller-derby player in Drew Barrymore's directorial debut Whip It, starring Ellen Page and Barrymore, and she has several other films in the works.
What do you think of Angel of Death? Gotta dig that Kiwi accent, ay?

I love Zoe Bell. Been lucky enough to interview her, she's so normal and friendly. But I agree, the accent does grate a little.
I love Zoe Bell. She is my hero!!
That doco on her and the old stunt woman was fantastic...but I do kinda cringe at her acting in Death Proof.
What a lucky girl. Make as Lucy Lawless' stand women and now she's getting her own online serie! :)
Zoe Bell is a fox, no mistaking it. Her role in Death Proof was, I think, meant to be cheesy. The whole film was, it was part of the reason for making it surely. It's funny though the way so many people seem to have this big hang-up with our accent, when they hear it spoken on-screen, as if all the avidly watching American public is going to cringe and be embarrassed for us. What is so bad about our accent anyway? Does this simply imply we'd all rather speak American or British English with typically stagnant and predictable accents? Our accent is a part of who we are. It distinguishes us from other nations and makes us instantly recognisable around the world. I say let's hear more of it. More exposure means more recognition and there's a lot of us that need to stand up and be recognised.
Well said Overlord's, and I do love your accent btw, it sounds much better than American's to me.
I loved Zoe's acting in Death Proof as well as her accent. It's too bad we couldn't see her and Lucy in Angel of Death outside the U.S. (I live in Europe) :-(

Margaret - thanks for the DVD prize - It's the one episode of Top Gear that I missed - the US Road Trip so having it on DVD is awesome (and my FiL is dead envious).
Zoe wasn't bad in Death Proof her accent could strip paint though. It's almost a caricature.
