Buffy vs Edward Cullen vs tedium
Since it's Friday, this blog has been written with a view to your afternoon-slacking needs.
Maybe it was watching RPatz kark it last night in Harry Potter, but I found something oddly comforting about the following clip.
I've discussed before the creepier elements of Edward Cullen's stalking behaviour and the wet, drippiness of Bella Swann, so how about matching up the teenage blood-lust of Twilight's Edward with a girl who stands for no vampirical shenanigans?
For something completely different...
Most notable for anyone who's hung out in Christchurch's Cathedral Square is spotting that the character dubbed Sir Nigel Nigelford in the clip is in fact Ian Brackenbury Channel, best known as The Wizard. Peter gives an impression of Gandalf to go with his image of Christchurch's resident mage, which may not be far off the mark...
I wonder if anyone's told The Wizard about this? Somebody really should. (In the small world stakes, his fiancee was my tutor in Art History at varsity one year. Lovely woman.)
But I digress from the other divertissements of the day.
No, don't thank me.

I've gotta say, that's one of the best examples of transformative storytelling serving as a pro-feminist visual critique that I've seen today.
