She has the self-styled moniker of Queen Bee and now she has a Royal Reign. Ridiculous? Probably. But, rapper, Lil' Kim is hardly known for being understated or conforming to convention.

The 39-year-old's first born, a girl named Royal Reign, was born on Monday at Hackensack University Medical Centre in New Jersey.

The royal-themed baby shower, held last month, was clearly a hint of things to come.

The lavish event was held at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York, and Kim talked to In Touch magazine about the regal theme.

"Everything had a royal twist," said Kim.

"At the beginning of the party, I was announced as The Queen with two trumpeters and even wore a crown," said Kim.

The hip hop star wore a nude dress with lace embellishments, and completed the outfit with $500,000 worth of ornate jewellery and plenty of makeup.

Kim - whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones - was accompanied by the baby's father, Mr. Papers.

The pair certainly weren't shy about showing affection, photographed during a PDA session on the red-and-blue carpet.

In Touch reports Papers gave the mother of his baby a new car as a push present.

"I couldn't have wished for a more special day," she told the magazine.

"I'm just so excited to be having a little princess. She's just going to be so girlie and fabulous - just like her mummy."

The rapper revealed her pregnancy in February at a New York Fashion Week show.

She turned up to The Blonds show in a heavily embellished body con dress which showed off her unmistakable baby bump.

Before performing her track Lighters Up at the MAC cosmetics after-party for the fashion week show, Kim confirmed what was on everybody's mind.

"I'm a mum, but I can turn it up a little!" she said.

She told Us Weekly that she was looking forward to meeting her baby.

"I'm so excited! I'm a few months along, I can't wait to be a mum!" Lil' Kim told the magazine.

As for work, Kim wouldn't let her pregnancy stop her.

"I'm still going to work," she told Us magazine.

"I'm still going to be hardcore. The baby has made me even more of a beast!"

Royal Reign weighed in at six pounds, five ounces and is 50 centimetres long, according to Entertainment Tonight.
