The mystery man cosying up to Katie Price during a drunken night out - pictures that fuelled her split with Australian pop singer Peter Andre - is reportedly gay.
The revelation came as British tabloids speculated the break-up of the celebrity couple, who have been married almost four years, is just a publicity stunt.
The Sun this week reported Andre had dumped his wife, otherwise known as Jordan, after seeing pictures of her drunk in a nightclub cosying up to another man.
"The devil gets inside her and she's a nightmare. I trust her when she's sober but I don't trust her when she's drinking," he told the paper.
But it has been revealed the target of Price's flirting was 36-year-old dressage rider Spencer Wilton, and that he is gay.
"We were just out having a perfectly innocent fun night out," Mr Wilton told the Daily Mail.
"It's all been blown up into something it isn't. I'm already in a happy relationship with a male partner."
Price said in a statement she was "devastated and disappointed by Peter's decision to separate and divorce me".
According to The Mirror, Price has been pleading via phone calls and text messages to re-unite with her, but Andre has refused to discuss their relationship.
But the whole thing could be a publicity stunt, PR experts have suggested.
According to the Daily Mail, a paparazzi agency is on standby with Price - whose exact location is not known - to take the first post-split pictures.
"This had led to growing speculation last night that the separation was just part of an elaborate ruse by the couple to breathe life into their struggling franchise," the paper said.
"I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the divorce didn't go through and they were reunited," PR expert Max Clifford told the paper.
Bookmakers were offering odds of 2-1 the pair would be back together by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, a man believe to be a friend of Price was photographed carrying out large plastic boxes of children's clothes from the couple's house.
