World's most handsome man named

Readers of Hollywood industry magazine Vanity Fair have named Twilight star Robert Pattinson the world's most handsome man.

Pattinson, the star of teenage vampire thriller Twilight, topped the online poll which attracted more than 270,000 entries.

He received 51 percent of the votes, beating Brad Pitt (12 percent), Johnny Depp (7 percent) and Nacho Figueras (15 percent) to the top spot.

British actor Pattinson, 23, burst onto Hollywood’s scene  last year with his role as the brooding vamp Edward Cullen whose membership in the league of blood-sucking living dead gave him a few problems when it came to wooing his loved-one, the film’s heroine Bella Swan.

Women and teenagers sucked up the film, turning out in droves for the romance and boosting its global box office to US$382 million.

And now, Pattinson is a global sensation - and a bona fide hottie, according to Vanity Fair readers. But a lot of other women and girls are into him, too.

He’s been rumoured for a long time to be dating his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart (Bella).

At 48, George Clooney’s days as Hollywood’s leading hunk seem to be fading fast. He didn’t even make the list.

Angelina Jolie topped a similar poll for women in March.
