A sex tape allegedly featuring pop singer Rihanna is almost certainly a fake, after it was revealed it was a doctored clip starring a well known porn actress.
Internet reports suggested the clip, a 13-second film modified to look like a night vision video similar to Paris Hilton's infamous sex tape, could spell the end of Rihanna's career.
But news website Livenews.com.au reported it was not Rihanna in the clip, but lookalike porn star Lavish Styles.
It said the hoax, which promised to release more footage on June 22, was engineered to drive internet traffic to the website of a new music act.
While the sex tape is a hoax, raunchy photos of Rihanna posted online last month are thought to be real.
The series of photos allegedly showed Rihanna topless in a bathroom mirror. One is thought to show ex-boyfriend Chris Brown wearing a set of pink underwear over his head.
Rihanna will testify against Brown later this month over his alleged bashing of her several months ago.
