Michael Jackson's personal physician could be charged over the King of Pop's death within the next two weeks, according to published reports in the US.
A police source told Foxnews.com that Dr Conrad Murray, who reportedly administered the powerful anaesthetic Propofol to Jackson the day he died, would be arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Investigators were waiting to charge him until they had executed a search warrant at a Los Angeles pharmacy in a bid to gather more evidence against him, the source said.
Jackson's dermatologist, Dr Arnold Klein, could also face charges related to medical malpractice.
A police official denied the claims.
Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said: “Until police complete their investigation and bring it to our office, there is no way to know what charges may be filed and against whom,” she said.
The source said Murray, who is currently in Houston, could be given the option of surrendering himself in Los Angeles, or being arrested in Houston.
Murray posted a one-minute video on YouTube this week, thanking family and friends for their "support and prayers". Prosecuters labelled it a PR stunt.
"Because of all that is going on, I am afraid to return phone calls, and use my email," Murray said. "I recorded this video to let all of you know that I have been receiving your messages."
Jackson died on June 25, sparking an outpouring of grief among fans. Police have been investigating the circumstances surrounding his death ever since.
Jackson's body, which has reportedly been frozen, will be buried on August 29, the day he would have turned 51.
