The burnt body of a woman found in a Miami trash bin on Sunday has been confirmed as that of former Playboy model Paula Sladewski.
The 26-year-old, who starred in the 2003 movie Playboy: The Ultimate Playmate Search, was "burned beyoned recognition" and CNN quoted police as saying her killer was a "monster".
"It's so horrific. They'd have to be a monster. It's a dastardly act," North Miami police spokesman Luitenant Neal Cuevas told CNN.
"It's the most heinous thing that a person can do to another person."
Sladewski's body was found alight in a large trash bin. When the fire was put out, dental records were used to identify her.
"It was just total, total, disfigurement," Cuevas said. "You couldn't even tell that it was a woman or a man or even what race."
CNN reported police as saying they had no suspects.
Sladewski had been in Miami with her boyfriend, Kevin Klym, for a New Year's Eve Lady Gaga concert, Renovo Media reported.
CNN said Klym was "devastated".
"He desperately wants this crime solved and anybody involved brought to justice," his lawyer Marc Beginin said.
