Corey Haim was living with his mother to help her battle cancer prior to his shock death.
The Lost Boys actor mother Judy is totally heartbroken by the passing of her son - who died aged 38 at their Los Angeles home on Wednesday from an alleged prescription drugs overdose - and has revealed he was caring for her because she has breast cancer.
Judy - who has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment - told website Radar Online: "I am a cancer victim and Corey was helping me at home. He was a good boy. I'm devastated by his death."
The bereaved parent - who is divorced from Corey's father Bernie - telephoned emergency services early on Wednesday morning and he was later taken to Providence St Joseph's Medical Center, in Burbank, California, where he was pronounced dead.
Los Angeles Coroner assistant chief Ed Winter has now revealed four prescription drugs bottles were found at the apartment.
He said: "There were no illicit drugs found at the residence. There were four normal prescription bottles taken."
Winter has also confirmed there will now be an investigation to confirm the cause of death, which has currently bee ruled as inconclusive pending an autopsy and toxicology test.
He added: "The Los Angeles Police Department reported it was a possible drug overdose, but we've seen no signs of foul play at this time. It's pending an autopsy and toxicology."
Corey shot to fame in the 80s after appearing in a string of popular movies, including 'The Lost Boys', which also starred Kiefer Sutherland.
Corey had made no secret of his battles with drug abuse and in 2000 he confessed to taking large quantities of the sedative Valium every day.
But it appeared to be a battle he had won and in 2004 he claimed he had overcome his substance abuse problems, saying: "I'm clean, sober, humble and happy."
