Former talk show host Rosie O'Donnell has defended Miley Cyrus, the 15-year-old Hannah Montana star in the middle of a raunchy photo furore.
Cyrus was forced to apologise this week for a photo shoot with Vanity Fair magazine, shot by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz. One apparently showed the teen covered only by a sheet.
Cyrus also said she was sorry for a series of raunchy snaps released last week. One featured Cyrus pulling her singlet down to reveal a lacy green bra.
O'Donnell defended Cyrus in her video blog, available on www.rosie.com, saying the controversial Vanity Fair photo was in good taste.
"Leave Miley Cyrus alone," O'Donnell said.
"Listen, Annie Leibovitz - I had two photo shoots with her. You kind of do what she says. It's intimidating.
"I also didn't think it was a pornographic photo in any capacity. I thought it was sort of a beautiful portrait."
She continued: "I like the one of her and her dad, too. I don't know. It's Annie Leibovitz, people."
Jamie Lee Curtis said Cyrus' parents should have stopped her from participating in the Vanity Fair photo shoot.
Jamie Lee Curtis - who recently caused controversy when she posed topless on the cover of AARP magazine - has defended the singer-turned-actress, saying she should have been better protected by her guardians.
She wrote in a blog on The Huffington Post website: "I too was a little embarrassed by my recent topless 'scandal' and the subsequent parodies, but I am an adult woman. I protected myself during the shoot and I can take the heat.
"I only wish that her guardians had protected her."
