Katy Perry and Russell Brand are reportedly refusing to sign a pre-nuptial agreement.
The 25-year-old singer got engaged to the 35-year-old British comedian on New Year's Eve after a whirlwind romance.
They are planning to wed later this year, but neither Katy nor Russell will listen to their friends, who are pleading they sign a pre-nup to protect their assets in the event of a divorce.
Both Katy and Russell are worth millions, but they are said to be too besotted with each other even discuss the prospect of a split in the future.
"They are in love and don't want to hear from anyone predicting doom in their future," a friend told British magazine More!
"That's how they feel when anyone brings up the subject of a pre-nup. People close to them have made it clear they should seriously consider getting one drawn up, but they just smile and change the subject.
"Katy and Russell live by their own rules and if they don't want to discuss something they just plough on regardless. They don't see the negative, just the best outcome, especially with their relationship."
If the couple do agree to draw up legal papers protecting their money, the pal says the documents will be kept simple. Russell is said to be particularly keen to avoid getting lawyers involved because he is famously not materialistic, and doesn't care if loses some of his wealth.
"If they do decide to sign a pre-nup, it'd be very basic," the source added. "Russell doesn't care about possessions so he doesn't see the point in spending money on lawyers to protect his assets."
