Jackass star Bam Margera was ejected from Auckland Airport for being too drunk and obnoxious to fly - but friends are suggesting he was spiked with a date-rape drug.

The skater-turned-TV star was originally reported as being "detained" in New Zealand, though a travel-mate later suggested Margera had missed his flight because he was "incapacitated" by "roofies" - slang for the sedative Rohypnol.

New Zealand Police confirmed today that two "very intoxicated" men were prevented from entering Auckland Airport for 24 hours on August 9.

The men were being rude and obnoxious to airline staff and other passengers and there were "concerns about letting them fly in that state", the spokeswoman said.

Margera turned up on celebrity blogger Perez Hilton's website after travel-mate Chad Ginsburg tweeted that Margera had been "detained" in New Zealand.

Ginsburg, a member in the band CKY with Margera's brother Jesse, later tweeted that Bam had caught up with the group in Perth.

"Bam finally made it to our gig in perth, turns out he was f****** roofied at one of our shows in nz and was incapacitated!"

It is not known whether Margera took any drugs, intentionally or otherwise.

The police spokeswoman said though both were very intoxicated, one was far worse than the other.

It is not known who Margera was travelling with.

Attempts to contact Margera for comment have been unsuccessful.

Margera was part of CKY's entourage as they played three tour dates around New Zealand, and is currently promoting Jackass 3D.

Jackass is a TV show and movie series where the participants play supposedly hilarious and often painful pranks on each other and their families.
