What the Kiwi gossip mags say

OPINION: Tradition dictates that Miss Universe contestants are surrounded by glitz, glam and drooling photographers at all times, but this hasn't been the case for New Zealand's Ria van Dyke.
Woman's Day reports the Kiwi beauty - currently in Las Vegas preparing for the annual catfight that is the Miss Universe 2010 pageant - was forced to trawl through opshops and gather up hand-me-downs to find the 30 outfits needed for the event.
Apparently Kiwi girls' traditional winter uniform of jeans, Ugg boots and a hoodie wouldn't cut it on the catwalk.
"There are three dress changes every day, so Mum and I were incredibly stressed," the 21-year-old tells WD. "Some of the girls have dresses worth tens of thousands of dollars and I'm going to second-hand shops with mum.
"I'm about to get on the plane and we're at the op shops and malls searching for the more affordable dresses, with me ringing my friends and asking to borrow their clothes ...
"I didn't expect it to be like this. It's pretty disappointing really."
Before you start dusting off your old tie-dyed skirts to send her, take a chill pill because WD organised several big name designers to come to the party.
With Augustine, Trelise Cooper and Lara Parker dressing van Dyke, she is now likely to be the best-dressed belle at the ball. As long as Customs confiscated those damned Ugg boots.
Elsewhere in this week's gossip mags, Danielle Cormack spends four pages telling the world how much in love she is with her "toyboy" - Boy star Pana Hema-Taylor, who at 20 is 19 years younger than the Kiwi actress.
But Cormack tells Woman's Weekly she rejects claims that she's a cougar.
"Hey, I'm not a cougar, I'm still a puma," she says, before getting very serious: "I'm never able to be anything but totally honest with Pana, and it keeps us both aware of what's happening between us. And right now, for me, this feels totally right."
Hema-Taylor has a less complicated way of explaining their relationship: "The people who know me, like my bros, they're all for it. When they heard I was with Danielle, they were like, 'Chur!'"
Munter from Outrageous Fortune couldn't have put it better.
Over at New Idea, the mag claims Rachel Hunter is recovering from two pieces of news involving her exes: Robbie Williams' recent marriage to Ayda Field (WD has the exclusive pics in this week's mag), and Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster's recent pregnancy news.
NI says the Kiwi model found out about both on what should have been her first wedding anniversary with Jarret Stoll, and sources say she's never felt so alone.
Perhaps she needs a hobby. Like model trains. Rod could probably give her some good advice about setting up a decent system.
Finally, the quote of the week comes from Jennifer Aniston: "Women are realising more and more that they don't have to settle with a man just to have a child."
Would that particular woman be you, Jen?

Who's Danielle Cormack?
Is it just me or is the fact that Danielle Cormack has a 14 year old son and is dating a 20 year old a bit "close" in age for comfort?
