Anna Paquin's new husband Stephen Moyer is auctioning his True Blood "modesty sock" off for charity.

Moyer, who married Paquin in a Malibu wedding two weeks ago, is competing with his co-star Alexander Skarsgard to see who can raise the most amount of money in two eBay auctions.

The competition is called "the battle of the fang" and the loser will have to photographed in a T-shirt designed by the winner.

Contactmusic.com reported Moyer was backing the Gulf Aid organisation, while any money raised by Skarsgard - who is auctioning an autographed script - will go towards the SOS Children's Village charity.

Moyer's sock, used while filming sex scenes in the hit vampires series True Blood, has been signed by Paquin and is up to US$645. It has had 90 bids.

It is called the "Sock of Destiny" in the auction and Paquin describes it as "a flesh-coloured, bow-tied ... package".

Moyer, who plays vampire Bill Compton, admitted using the modesty sock in a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, in which he posed on the cover entwined with Paquin and Moyer splattered in blood.

Paquin, who plays waitress Sookie Stackhouse, admitted wearing "a patch", while Skarsgard said he didn't feel the need to cover up.

"I don’t want a sock around it, it feels ridiculous. If we're naked in the scene, then I'm naked.

"I've always been that way."
