And the saga continues.

In what must be one of the most public celebrity relationship dramas in existence, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson's plot thickens, with yet more insiders weighing in.

Twitter has been in overdrive since pictures of K-Stew kissing married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders, appeared.

Now, despite both issuing public apologies, the man who regards Stewart as his "little sister" has leapt to her defence.

Giovanni Agnelli, producer of Welcome to the Rileys tweeted: "I'll say right now what the manipulative media isn't saying... Kristen Stewart did not have any type of sex with Rupert Sanders."

He went on in an expletive-riddled rant. "The spin that keeps growing on this story is staggering. There was NO on set affair. Stop printing LIES."

"If one of your friends in real life was hurting, and lots of people were being cruel. Wouldn't you ask them to please stop? Honestly?"

The opinion saw Agnelli trend on Twitter as it appears many clamour for news on the Hollywood couple's latest status. Pattinson is believed to have moved out of the $6 million Los Angeles home he shared with his girlfriend and Twilight co-star and was spotted on an east London street yesterday.

Agnelli directed much of his spleen towards certain Twilight detractors, who have appropriated 'Twi-hard' lingo to criticise the star.

"If you've ever used the word Trampire you're a mindless pathetic piece of s***", came another tweet. The harsh moniker has been used to characterise Stewart.

He thanked the vampire romance programme's fans who have collected to support Stewart on the microblogging site, pledging their devotion in 'twititions'.

Quite apart from adding yet more fuel to the blown-out-of-all-proportions fire - one of Agnelli's tweets concedes "Nothing is ever as clear as it looks" - the string of tweets has highlighted the weird and impassioned province that is Twilight on Twitter.

It's not easy being a modern-day vampire.
