A romantic rock opera made in heaven? Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, are set to get married. (Yes, to each other!).
The announcement comes quite as a surprise to some: The couple had kept their relationship under covers, and only few friends were aware that they were dating at all.
Now, after a six-month courtship, Lavigne's representatives have told People magazine, that the Canadian rockers are engaged to be married.
Lavigne, 27, and Kroeger, 37, first got together in February to co-write a song for Lavigne's upcoming fifth studio album.
"A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together," a friend of Lavigne told the magazine.
On August 8 Nickelback singer popped the question, and presented Lavigne with a 14-carat diamond ring.
"He makes her so happy," a family source told People magazine. "Both of their families could not be more excited."
It didn't take the social media community long to find a name for the newly-minted music power couple and the hastag #chavril was soon trending on Twitter.
It will be Kroeger's first marriage, while Lavigne has already once rocked down the aisle with Sum 41 Deryck Whibley from whom she split in 2009. She has also dated Kim Kardashian's step brother Brody Jenner.
And to close the circle watch Mr Lavigne Nr 1 perform a song by the future Mr Lavigne No 2:
