Danielle Spencer's former TV dancing partner, Damian Whitewood, has broken his silence on rumours he was somehow involved in Spencer's break up with actor Russell Crowe.

Currently in California, where he has been living in the Santa Monica area and working as a professional dancer, Whitewood tweeted at 7am Sydney time today: ''Wow!, Sad and crazy news day full of rumours I didn't ask for!''

From London to Hollywood Whitewood has been named as the man Spencer found solace in during her many lonely months while Crowe was overseas filming blockbusters including Les Miserables and more recently, Noah.

On his website, Whitewood, who has danced with Pamela Anderson on the US version of Dancing With The Stars, says he is ''one of the luckiest people in the world, being able to communicate with so many people without saying a word through the universal language of DANCE.''

With many hours of rehearsals already under their belts for the Australian version of Dancing With The Stars in June, Spencer and Whitewood continued to spend many ''off duty'' hours together too, their friendship getting considerable airtime on social media websites.

The pair regularly posted status updates including cosy images, such as their night out at the Prince concert, or striking sultry poses with each other back stage.

It was photos of the pair, arm in arm, taken at The Star's Marquee nightclub, which led to Russell Crowe making a surprise visit to the set of DWTS to greet his wife, her reaction being comprehensively analysed this week by media pundits since the Herald yesterday revealed the couple's marriage had ended.

Rumours of a more intimate relationship also surfaced when Whitewood danced with Anderson in 2010. Anderson told talk show host Ellen DeGeneres at the time, there was "only one man" in her life, her Australian dance partner. She flirtatiously told the talk show host: "He has my undivided attention."

Whitewood's Sydney friends say the dancer has been inundated with media requests but has so far not made any comment on the Spencer/Crowe split.
