Brad Pitt accused of child abuse: reports
The Brangelina divorce has just turned nastier, with child abuse accusations levelled at Brad Pitt.
On Monday (local time) Angelina Jolie filed for a divorce from her husband of two years and romantic partner since 2005, signalling the end of one of Hollywood's most glamorous and powerful couples.
Gossip news agency TMZ reported that Pitt was being accused of "physical and verbal abuse" after an incident on a private jet and had been interviewed by the LA police and Department for Children and Family Services.
TMZ said someone had witnessed the alleged incident as Pitt, Jolie and their children had exited the plane and reported it.

However the Independent newspaper said the Los Angeles police department had confirmed it was not investigating Pitt.
A spokesperson said: "We only found out through calls this morning, we contacted divisions that would be handling it and they've said no."
The Independent reported a source close to Pitt had denied any allegations of abuse.
The Department of Children and Family Services says by law it cannot confirm or deny investigations, according to spokesman Armand Montiel in a statement to USA Today.
Initial attempts to reach representatives for Jolie and Pitt were not successful, the USA Today reported.
Jolie has sought full physical custody of their six children aged 8 to 15 with visitation rights for Pitt but did not seek spousal support. Jolie cited their separation date as September 15.
Since their split rumours have circulated about constant arguments between the couple, some physical.
