Kim Kardashian-West fought back tears as she detailed the attack to sisters Khloe and Kourtney.

Kim Kardashian-West has finally revealed exactly what happened when she was robbed at gunpoint in Paris last October.

The latest episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians saw the 36-year-old mother of two recounting her ordeal with sisters Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian.

"Tonight's episode is going to be very tough for me," said Kardashian-West in an Instagram post before the show went to air. "However, I thought it was important to share this story through my eyes & not in an interview where my own words could be twisted."

"I have always shared so much & I'm not going to hold back when this was probably one of the most life changing experiences for me. I would never wish this experience upon anyone, but have learned some valuable lessons & feel so blessed to be safe home with my babies & husband."

In the episode, Kardashian-West describes how two men dressed in police uniforms forced the concierge of the hotel where she was staying to let them into her room.

It was the first time Kim Kardashian-West had spoken publicly about the robbery.

After she gave them her US$4million (NZ$5.7 million) diamond engagement ring, the pair dragged her out into the hallway, which is when the reality TV star first realised they were armed.

"I was looking at the gun, looking down back at the stairs," she recalls. "I have a split second in my mind to make this quick decision. Am I going to run down the stairs and either be shot in the back? It makes me so upset to think about it - but either they're going to shoot me in the back, or if I make it and they don't, if the elevator doesn't open in time or the stairs are locked, then I'm f***ed! There's no way out."

They then took Kardashian-West back inside her hotel room. As she begged for her life, one of the two assailants put duct tape over her mouth, preventing her from crying out.

"Then he grabs my legs and I wasn't - you know, I had no clothes on under," she says. "He pulled me toward him at the front of the bed and I thought, 'OK, this is the moment they're going to rape me'."

"I fully mentally prepped myself - and then he didn't."

Instead, her assailant duct-taped her legs together before holding his gun to her head.

Kardashian-West remembers thinking, "I just knew that was the moment. They're just totally going to shoot me in the head", before the two men eventually left her bound and gagged in the hotel bathtub, making off with several million dollars worth of jewellery.

Earlier this year Kardashian-West met with attorneys and a French judge in New York after 10 suspects were arrested to face criminal charges including armed robbery, kidnapping, weapon possession, use of false identity and criminal association in connection to the armed robbery.

The reality star, who is married to rapper Kanye West, took a break from filming her reality show after the incident, but her mother Kris Jenner revealed during an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last month that while she has since found talking about the incident therapeutic, reliving the robbery itself was traumatic for all involved.

"Nobody can even get through the first five minutes without being hysterical," said Jenner.

"I get choked up just thinking about it, talking about it. It's remarkable to listen to (Kim) tell the story, and she does that because she just thinks that it might also bring some awareness because it changed the way we live our lives."

Keeping Up With The Kardashians screens Mondays at 2pm; encore 9.30pm on E!
