Shane Warne has reportedly flown to see Elizabeth Hurley for "crisis talks" to save their romance.

The Australian cricket star is apparently determined to save his engagement to the British actress-and-model. Earlier this week, it was revealed the relationship was on the rocks amid speculation flirty Warne was getting close to his ex-wife.

"Shane still desperately loves Elizabeth and wants to make a go of things. The long distance wasn't helping so he decided to book plane tickets, and make the effort to see her," a source told British newspaper The Mirror.

"Their work schedules of late haven't been compatible so he is looking forward to spending some proper time with her.

"She was infatuated with Shane but after their latest row, feels she has had enough and, quite frankly, has grown a bit bored with him and some of the things that come out of his mouth.

"Shane will have to be at his most charming if he's to win her round."

Hurley is based in the UK, while Shane has been in Australia. Spending long periods of time apart is believed to have taken its toll, and Warne is also said to have frustrated Elizabeth with his flirty ways.

The sports star arrived at Melbourne airport on Thursday, accompanied by his three children. When asked where he was going, he told reporters: "We're going to have a good time - we're going to be away for ages."

According to insiders, even if Warne and Hurley can't mend their relationship issues, there are other things to be sorted out. The pair own £6 million mansion together in the UK and there are decisions to be made about the future of the property.

"If they do separate for good, they will be especially gutted about the house, which was their pride and joy," a source revealed.

"As well as opening up a Shane Ward Academy for talented young Aussie and Brit bowlers, Shane and Liz had planned to create a cricket ground and facilities for an annual celebrity charity fundraiser."

Hurley finally addressed rumours about the romance this week, saying the situation was too "raw and personal" to discuss.
Shane seemed more hopeful, insisting the pair were not ready to "throw the towel in yet".
