Mad Max may be roaring back onto the silver screen nearly 25 years after the third in the iconic series was released.

But Mel Gibson probably won't be taking part, according to a News Ltd report.

Shooting for new film is tipped to begin later this year, and scouting for locations has already started, the report said.

The first Mad Max movie set in an apocalyptic future in Australia and directed by George Miller shot a 21-year-old Mel Gibson to international stardom.

It was followed by Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior in the US) in 1981, then Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, co-starring Tina Turner, in 1985.

Mel definitly is Mad Max,but if there were to be another Max...Karl Urban would probably be my choice.

After watching the terrible "Signs" I've vowed not to see another Mel Gibson movie again so I'm quite happy about it.

The movie industry like the music industry is crap these days. Video games are the new entertainment.

Come on guys I am not that bad maybee i would just float in and out as a memory in my kids head and i think it would be better if it were my daughter out for revenge for the guy that ran me over in his skoda

"Mudguts, get out of there. Cundalini, put her against the post. We have a problem here, she's not what she seems. Bubba Zanetti has it on good authority shee's sent by the bronze. Full of treachery"

Brilliant stuff. You can't remake that.

As #'s 5 & 10 have said, when will Hollywood realise it has no talent left? Rambo, The Hulk, The Terminator, Mad Max - leave it alone guys. These were icons of the 80s and 90s and your post-modernistic crappy regurgitation is pathetic. Come up with your own heroes.

So if you don't have Mel Gibson, how exactly is it Mad Max? Isn't it just another movie in a desert? I always thought the 3rd one sucked so a 4th made in Hollywood would be worse. They very rarely get better.

I just hope they use cool old cars, from the same era as the original film

I have the perfect title for the 4th installment 'Son of the Road Warrior' it's about a boozing old Mad Max whos more interested in hoping into bed with his new younger misses (Mel's bit/s part). So he gives Max Junior the keys to the v8 intercepter and he goes on a quest to find himself and kill bad guys.
