Did Marilyn Monroe smoke pot?
The reel-to-reel silent, colour film taken at a private home in New Jersey was recently purchased by collector Keya Morgan for US$275,000 from the person who took the film, who has asked to remain anonymous.
Morgan and the person who shot the film gave Reuters permission to use it in shortened form. The copyright of the image will be put up for sale on eBay later this week, Morgan said.
At one point Monroe is passed a cigarette and takes a puff but does not appear to inhale deeply. The person who made the film confirmed that the cigarette contained marijuana, saying: "I got it (the pot). It was mine. It was just passed around."
"It was not a party. It was just a get-together. You know, come over and hang out," the person said.
Morgan, a collector of historical photos, manuscripts, autographs and documents, is also working on a documentary on the death of Monroe in August 1962.
He learned of the film during his research and tracked down the owner, who kept it as part of an archive that was moved between various homes over the years. The Monroe film had been stored in an attic for three years before Morgan tracked it down.
The actress appears happy and relaxed at a small gathering of friends that Morgan dates to 1958 or 1959, based on her appearance.
"This is the late '50s so she is already very famous, but this is a personal side of her we've never seen before. People have never seen her in such a relaxed pose," Morgan said.

that is a cigarette you can tell by the shape and colour and also it is not late 50s its is early 50s she was heavier and looked a lot older than this later in life, this man is just trying to make money and selling a clip of her smoking weed is going to sell more than her smoking a cigarette

What do you mean "Did she smoke pot?" One would hope that she did. It's a more responsible choice than drinking alcohol.
What I find hilarious and a sign of the times is that NZ and Canadian news has labelled this as marijuana, while CNN has labelled it a cigarette. I love comparing the same stories in different areas.
I'm not convinced it's her, fake photos could sell for a lot on ebay...
Smoking pot is even more disgusting than smoking regular cigarettes.

There's no logic for allowing a person to buy and consume 10 bottles of neat vodka but arresting them for enjoying a quiet spliff, I am afraid.

wtf this is not news. and so what if weed is illegal like 20% of the whole world smoke it, and probly more have done it at least once. i bet almost every celebrity has. we might as well make it world news when the have a drink of alchole. lol this is the most stupid news iv read in a long time. and buy the way if she was smoking buds in a country where it is legal then the movie is fine.
