Is Bruno better than Borat? Let the debate between the merits of the gay Austrian fashionista and the camp reporter from Kazhakistan begin.

It's not an easy question to answer, because Bruno is jampacked full of the same style of awkward humour employed by British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat, released in 2007.

There are awkward interviews, dodgy sex scenes, runway gatecrashes, cringeworthy hunting trips and a hard-to-watch invasion at a swingers party, all based around a flimsy plot about the Bruno trying to make it big in Hollywood.

Despite the flimsy plot it's laugh-a-minute stuff that verges on the surreal when Bruno exposes a gang of fame-hungry parents prepared to expose their children to anything - including dynamite, heavy machinery, medical experiments and liposuction - in a bid to score a minor photography job involving dubious religious references.

But the two-disc edition of Bruno is just as notable for what it left on the cutting room floor.

Included in the extras are a whole host of deleted scenes, including interviews with Bruno's agent who had no idea he was being set up, the infamous deleted scene with LaToya Jackson eating sushi off of a fat naked Mexican man, and plenty of extended scenes - including more of that hands-over-eyes swingers party.

On DVD at least, it appears Bruno might just have the edge over Borat.

This could almost be mistaken for a blurb taken sraight off the back of the DVD if it wern't for the errors. This is an anonymous "review" which basically just sells the DVD.

Is this an independent review, or a press release? Bruno was a terrible film, lacking all of the wit and insight of Borat. It is much more similar to Ali G - puerile, crass humour designed to appeal to knuckle-dragging teenagers.

Both were great, but i think Borat was better... just

It was like actually crap!!! Like what on Earth? It was pretty much the same as Borat but with a different plot. It was stupid! Borat was way funnier

This movie is terrible, Borat it most certainly is not. Foul, crude, offensive humour, no storyline whatsoever, and no agenda other than to offend. Whilst Borat seemed to be Cohen holding a big mirror up to America and it's bigotry / intolerance, Bruno just feels like an exercise in narcissism and misanthropy. Crucial to the film itself is a lead character who is ENTIRELY unlikeable.
