If you thought Transformers 2 was bad when you saw it at the movies, there's little chance you'll find it improves on DVD.

Michael Bay's 144-minute follow-up to the far superior 2007 original is the film everyone thought he would deliver first up: Dumb, loud, aggressive, boring, mechanical, confusing and far, far too long.

The plot is all over the place, the dialogue is ridiculous, two new robot characters are hip-hop stereotypes and borderline racist, and the film's stars suddenly - and inexplicably - find themselves in Egypt for the last third of the film.

But the explosions are big, the action is furious, Megan Fox wears plenty of low-cut tops and there is approximately three times more robot porn than in the first film. If that's your cup of tea, it'll knock your socks off.

Everyone else will be erasing July 1, 2011 from their calendars. That's when Transformers 3 comes out. Consider yourself warned.

Extras: The two-disc release comes with more than three hours of extras, so if you're a sucker for punishment, check out the director's commentary, and more features and docos than you can shake a metallic fist at.

For those of you that do not get why transformers fans from the 80's were so disappointed i will spell it out for u. It was an iconic cartoon. Dedicated children around the world tuned into to watch their beloved characters battle it out. and surprise the schmucks tuned it into complete crap.................

First one had warmth, humour and heart. Second one tried - hard, but only came up with a bucket full of cheese. A robot that can look like a sexy woman that attempts to court protagonist and then lashes out with its metallic tongue? - Excuse me? Optimus telling the big wheeled one to "pull over" (amongst other clangers)? The "third wheel" student guy who I don't even know who he was or why he needed to be in the plot? Yes the special effects were great and I could let go of all expectations of the plot and just enjoy that - but why not expect a higher standard from directors, when we know they are capable of delivering?? There are plenty of films that have special effects with great plots and great acting ... this wasn't one of them, but I'm hoping they raise the bar higher and come up with something more satisfying than just a nice exterior in Transformers 3.

Huge Transformers fan (since birth!!) so I loved the movies purely for the fact that they are about Transformers, anyone who went to see these with ideas of the worlds most intricite plot are seriously deluded - big a$$ metal robots blowing stuff up, killing ppl - on these it delivered what more can you expect? Bring on #3!!

You can tell he isn't an 80s Transformers fan because he thought this movie was crap?

Hell, it is in big part because I was/am an 80s Transformers fan that I think this movie is crap.

Of course it is a big dumb film, that's what is expected. But it is an AWFUL big dumb film with a convoluted plot and really poorly choreographed action scenes that undermine the potential coolness of the effects.

It wasn't the robot porn that offended me - its the way Michael Bey insists on making recruitment movies for the US Military. I thought this movie was about alien robots - not being All You Can Be.
