Disgraced British radio host Russell Brand is set to star in the upcoming fourth film in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel.

The 33-year-old comedian - who recently resigned from his British radio show following controversy over lewd phone calls he made during a programme - will reportedly earn £5 million for portraying Jonathan, the brother of Johnny Depp’s character Captain Jack Sparrow, in the latest instalment of the Disney franchise.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Johnny’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either.

"Russell joining the Sparrows alongside Johnny and Keith Richards as their dad will complete the ultimate on-screen pirate family."

It was recently revealed Johnny will earn £32 million for reprising his role as the eccentric swashbuckler for a fourth time, making him Hollywood’s highest earning film star.

Johnny's co-stars in the first three films in the franchise, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, are unlikely to appear in the latest instalment.

YES! Definately. bring it on. Obviously they have a similar likeness, and almost similar accents... and I would so love to watch Jonny and Russell collaborate on screen together, it would be very exciting. So what if he is a wally!..GOOD! PS Big fan of his (yeh, yeh, i know what your thinking!). x

i have never seen this guy in anything...but he certainly has the look of jack sparrow and that's the problem...there can only be ONE Jack!!! they better not screw up this new movie with too many characters,...get back to the basics.

The funniest and most talented? Only if you deported every other comedian in Britain first.

Steve W   #31   05:26 pm Jan 28 2009

Brilliant. My sentiments exactly.

Ross   #30   05:26 pm Jan 28 2009

Well he makes a good Prat, adding another two vowels can't be that bigger a jump.

Colin   #29   05:26 pm Jan 28 2009

A complete waste of space, and no start to his talent, just be grateful he's not on telly here that much. BB back home was dreadful enough...

Awesome. Brand is far and away the funniest and most talented comedian in Britain right now. He couldn't be more perfectly suited to this role.
