The worst film of the year has been named, and it stars Mike Myers, Jessica Alba, Justin Timberlake and a really bad moustache.

Myers' The Love Guru was named the Worst Movie of 2008 by The New York Post, which claimed it wa unfunny and embarrassing.

Explaining why the movie had topped the chart, the paper said: "Films like The Love Guru and 2003's The Cat in the Hat are destroying all the comedy credibility Myers built through the Wayne's World movies and Austin Powers films.

"Thank goodness for Shrek. The Love Guru also stars acting legends Jessica Alba and Justin Timberlake."

Next on the list is Paris Hilton's The Hottie and the Nottie, with Katie Holmes' Mad Money and Cameron Diaz' What Happens in Vegas also featuring in the top five.

On Paris' latest foray into film, the paper wrote: "Is it worth describing the plot to this Paris Hilton-starred stinker? We won't bother, because you shouldn't bother watching it. According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed less than $1.6 million as of November 26, which sounds generous."

What Happens in Vegas drew an equally scathing comment: "The easy joke is that this bomb should have stayed in Vegas. We took the easy way out."

New York Post's Top 10 Worst Movies of 2008:

1. The Love Guru
2. The Hottie and the Nottie
3. Mad Money
4. What Happens In Vegas
5. 10,000 B.C
6. Babylon A.D.
7. You Don't Mess With The Zohan
8. Rambo
9. Witless Protection
10. Beverly Hills Chihuahua

I think the movie I watched last night was the worst film, "mom's Boy" or also known as "My Mom's new boyfriend", starting colin Hanks, meg ryan, Antonio Bandera's and Selma Blair.

It was so poor that I which I had caught up on sleep instead of wasting my evening. The movie was stuck between Genre's, never funny enough to be a commedy, not enough action to be an action pic, and no where near enough romance to be a romantic commedy. It tried and failed to come even remotely close to a plot direction.

The synopsis was somewhat interesting but the execution was excrusiatingly bad.

Totally agree, Beverly Hills Chihuahua - the other flicks had some redeeming features, at least BEFORE you saw them, but surely the alarm bells started ringing pretty early for this one. Mind you I haven't seen it, it could be the greatest onscreen depiction of a "rat-like" canine's struggle with guilt after distancing itself from a somewhat more humble ancestory in Mexico... now living it up in the lavish sector of Beverly Hills. But I doubt it.

I agree with all except Rambo being in that list, Rambo was a good film, it lacked the intense story of the first three but it is still a good film.

The fact that Rambo is on that list means it's complete rubbish.

How did Rambo make it onto that list. That movie is awesome!!! Sure it doesn't have a lot of "story" or "acting", but come on! RAMBO!

I feel that I am a good judge in movies since I saw a lot of movies this year and didn't see 9 out of the ten on this list. The only one I did watch was 10,000 BC because it was sitting in the 360 and I didn't want to get up to change it.
