Sneak peek: Captain Fantastic trailer
A trailer for Viggo Mortensen's latest film has been released, and there's not a hobbit in sight.
Captain Fantastic, coming in July, depicts "a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education" who is forced to enter the world, "challenging his idea of what it means to be a parent".
Written and directed by Matt Ross, the film stars Mortensen as its lead, with support from actors Frank Langella, Kathryn Hahn and Steve Zahn.
The drama, set in the Pacific northwest of the US, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, to critical acclaim.
A review published by Variety said Captain Fantastic featured Mortensen in "the role he may well have been born to play".
"Captain Fantastic easily ranks among the most polished and relatable of this year's Sundance offerings, even if the self-sufficient lifestyle it depicts will feel totally alien to most of its mainstream audience."
