Two Wellingtonians have made a romantic advertisement which will be shown on US television tonight during the country's second highest-rated show, American Idol.
Amateur filmmakers Hugh Mitton and Lee Kupferman entered a competition to make an ad for one of 10 companies, including Coca-Cola.
In their commercial, Happiness in the Air, cans of the soft drink are floated from Mount Victoria with red balloons and caught by gleeful lovers around the city.
After winning the Coke section, the pair were flown to Cannes for an awards ceremony where their commercial was chosen as the overall winner.
Both are taking their hobby much more seriously now: Mitton was working as a creative at Ogilvy ad agency when they made the ad but on the back of its success, has been signed as a junior director at Film Construction.
