Drinking makes bad ideas seem like incredible ones. Doing a backflip off the couch. Trying to do a pushup with one hand while holding a White Russian in the other. Making out with a co-worker. Rarely has a drunken idea been executed as flawlessly as this.

Star Drunk, "a film by drunk people," began as an experiment by a team of writers from Portland to get hammered and see what came out of it.

"We promised each other that whatever we wrote that night, we'd produce as a short film," says Star Drunk writer/director Chris R Wilson. The result is a mish-mash of references to modern sci-fi classics like Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and Firefly... if all of those shows starred really, really drunk people.

It's hard to tell whether this is a world first. You have to imagine that in the (allegedly) coke-fuelled corridors of Hollywood, many a film has been influenced in every aspect by the consumption of something bad for you.

It's just that Star Drunk is unapologetic. No, not just unapologetic - damn proud.

Watch Star Drunk below, and remember: Drink responsibly and never pilot spacecraft while intoxicated. If you drink and fly, you're a bloody idiot.
