Jennifer Lawrence is "allergic" to flatterers.
The 23-year-old Academy Award-winning actress doesn't like to be singled out for being successful.
The star finds it odd interacting with people who are constantly sucking up to her.
"I just get allergic to that kind of thing. People treating you differently when you don't feel any differently is really alienating," Lawrence told USA Today.
"You can see, the way they look at you. I can see if that was who I surrounded myself with, that's why you change. I find people who don't change. That's where I get my reality."
Lawrence longs for a simple life away from the Hollywood spotlight.
The Kentucky-born star reveals she is planning to take a little break after she finishes filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay in June 2014.
"I've built my career. I need to build my human life," she explained.
"I need to get a house and connect to the people around me and not work for a little while."
Lawrence rekindled her romance with Warm Bodies actor Nicholas Hoult, 23, earlier this year after separating for a few months.
She appreciates that her beau also values quiet downtime.
"We're really good at it," Jennifer said, speaking of how they maintain their under-the-radar romance.
Lawrence has recently been spotted out with a diamond ring on her wedding finger.
And it is rumoured Nicholas has asked her to be his wife.
"They are fiercely private and have no intention of becoming a high-profile Hollywood couple, which is why they're not making a big noise about it. But I can confirm that Nick has popped the question and Jen said yes. I think they like the idea of letting everyone speculate whether or not they are even engaged," an insider told the National Enquirer.
Lawrence's new movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is now in theatres.
