A grumpy old man, a naive boy scout and a dog with a voice box decoder seem like an unlikely pairing for a hit film.

But in the hands of animated kings Pixar, it's stunning stuff.

Up, last year's best film now released on DVD, is the heartwarming tale of Carl Fredricksen, an elderly former balloon salesman who floats his house in a bid to get away from the construction site neighbouring his home.

Wilderness Explorer Russell tags along for the ride, and they pick up all kinds of characters along the way.

With stunning animation, laugh-out-loud moments and surprisingly stirring scenes, Up will work wonders on both kids and adults. The opening montage is worth the purchase price alone.

Extras:
Alternate scenes, features and an exclusive short film starring Dug the dog are all guaranteed to keep the kids entertained after you've watched Up for the 12th time.

Not just for the littlies. This is a wonderful, hilarious, heartwarming story that can be shared by grandparents and children. Some great one liners from Carl Fredricksen. I would love to have seen it in 3D. Dug is ultra cool.

My husband & I saw it at the movies in 3D. It was one of the best films we have seen in years. Wonderful!
