Cruise's no hero in Reacher trailer
The long awaited second trailer for crime drama Jack Reacher has hit the net today.
It shows petite Tom Cruise kicking, stomping and punching his way through some bad guys, playing Reacher, the hero of the popular series by Lee Child, famous for his broad shoulders, blond hair and 6-foot-five frame.
"Jack Reacher is a ghost, served in the military police, a brilliant investigator, a troublemaker too," it is explained in voiceover, while Reacher points out that he was not a hero.
The movie is an adaptation of the book One Shot part of the bestselling series of novels and follows Reacher's investigation into the innocence of a military sniper who is accused of killing five civilians.
When word first got out that Cruise would be playing the former army cop-turned-badass investigator, fans of the novels were upset, saying the 50-year-old actor was too short to play the character.
But the author himself embraced Cruise last year, telling Empire magazine "[What] people forget is that Tom Cruise is quite possibly the best actor of his generation."
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Jack Reacher hits theatres on December 21. The film co-stars Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall and Werner Herzog.
