Lorde bags two VMA nominations

TWO NOMS: Lorde has been nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards in the Best Female and Best Rock categories for her hit Royals.

MTV released those in the running for a Video Music Award today with Lorde nominated for two and Beyoncé leading the pack with eight nominations.

Lorde has been nominated in the Best Female and Best Rock category for her hit Royals.

Queen Bee is in with a chance of winning the prize for best video and best collaboration with her Drunk in Love promo, featuring husband Jay Z. Beyoncé could also be going home with the best female gong and is further nominated in the best video with a social message, best cinematography, best editing, best choreography and best direction categories.

Hot on her heels are Iggy Azalea and Eminem, who both received seven nods.

Azalea, 24, will be battling it out with 32-year-old Beyoncé for best female with her Fancy video (ft Charlie XCX), along with Lorde, Ariana Grande (featuring Iggy) and Katy Perry ft. Juicy J.

The prestigious video of the year award could also go to Iggy ft. Charlie XCX, Pharrell Williams with Happy, Sia with Chandelier or Miley Cyrus with Wrecking Ball.

Eminem ft Rihanna with Monster is nominated in the best male category, along with newcomer Sam Smith for Stay with Me, Ed Sheeran ft. Pharrell with Sing, Pharrell with Happy and John Legend with All of Me.

Up and coming artist Smith and Australian pop-rock band 5 Seconds of Summer have also been recognised in the MTV artist to watch category.

The best rock category has given nods to Arctic Monkeys, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, The Black Keys and Linkin Park.
