David Bowie is being tipped to headline the 2010 Big Day Out.
The English singer and actor is expected to be announced on Tuesday as the megastar attraction for the Auckland leg of the Australasian tour in January.
Bowie, 62, has previously been headhunted by BDO organisers.
The veteran rock star is being tipped by respected music forums liveguide.com.au and last.fm both who have proven track records of getting the BDO line-ups correct.
Bowie's headlining presence is also being widely hailed on social networking site Facebook.
Australian Triple M music website says Bowie's show would be a rare-acoustic set covering his glittering career including smash tracks Changes, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragette City, The Jean Genie, Life On Mars, Space Oddity, Rebel Rebel and Fame.
Other acts to be named on Tuesday may be English headliners Muse, Placebo, Kasabian, Massive Attack, Groove Armada, Powderfinger, Jet and The Mars Volta.
Re-formed American rockers Limp Bizkit have been ruled out.
A statement from the BDO's co-producer Vivian Lees said: "Limp Bizkit will definitely not be performing on the January 2010 Big Day Out series, or any other Big Day Out shows anywhere, ever."
Other BDO shows will be in Sydney, Perth, the Gold Coast, Adelaide and Melbourne.
