Hip-hop stars Savage and Scribe are the driving force behind an all-star concert charity event being held to raise money for tsunami-stricken Samoa.
The concert - called I Love the Islands - is being held at Auckland's Vector Arena on October 19 and all proceeds will be donated towards the clean-up effort in Samoa.
It has been organised by Scribe and Savage, who were both personally affected by the disaster. They lost family members and villages in the tsunami, which struck on September 28 and killed more than 180 people, wiping out entire hotels, homes and resorts, beaching boats and flooding islands with debris.
A press release issued this afternoon said the hip-hop stars worked with record label Dawn Raid, personality Oscar Kightley and Ole Maiava to assemble an all-star line-up of musicians for the concert, who are all working for free.
The show will be hosted by Kightley and artists scheduled to perform include Neil Finn and Tim Finn, Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga, Savage, Scribe, Hollie Smith, Elemeno P, Nesian Mystik, Jordan Luck Band, J Williams, Che-Fu and Kratez, Open Souls, Kirsten Morrell, Sweet & Irie, DJ Sirvere, Aaradhna, PNC, Devolo, Mareko, King Kapisi, Feelstyle, Adeaze, Cydel, Ardijah and Lapi Mariner.
Similar fundraising concert events will also be held in Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, but details are yet to be confirmed.
Tickets for the Auckland show cost $25 and are on sale through Ticketmaster.
