The Britney Spears' Circus has arrived in Australia.

The headline-grabbing pop diva arrived in Sydney early this morning for her first Australian concert tour.

"Longest flight ever but we had a great time ... So excited to be here," Spears said on Twitter after arriving.

Earlier, the singer had left behind yet another controversy in Los Angeles when gossip site TMZ released footage of Spears at LAX airport being ushered through with security staff whilst drinking a one litre Big Gulp drink - against the airport's strict liquid policy.

A "security specialist" told the website screeners had "discretion" when it comes to letting liquids through security.

Later, it was discovered the drink contained only ice chips which are apparently acceptable to American airport security.

As her Virgin flight touched down in Sydney, Spears avoided the small group of fans who waited for her, instead boarding a private jet for the flight to Perth.

She kicks off the first of her 15 Circus tours in Perth on Friday night.

Her worldwide Circus tour - with a cast of 44 dancers, magicians, clowns and acrobats - opened in New Orleans in March.

She will perform concerts in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane before finishing in Adelaide on November 29.
