"Let the wild rumpus start!" Like the soundtrack to Sam Mendes's Away We Go this month, here's another that stands on its own from the film, which opens next week.

Director Spike Jonze has made some of the best music videos of the past 20 years, so it's no surprise he hasn't skipped on the music.

The Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O approach could be best described as kitchen-sink indie - warm, often acoustic and with a small children's chorus, entirely appropriate for the millions familiar with the tone and honesty of Maurice Sendak's masterpiece.

But it's not like a hastily organised primary school concert. There are several songs that wouldn't be amiss on any album, including the rousing All is Love, the fragile ballads Worried Shoes and Hideaway, the Siouxsie-and-the-Banshees-influenced Capsize and the atmospheric Cliffs.

Even if there weren't the few snippets of dialogue from the film included, it still sounds a lot like one would imagine Max knocking together with his fearsome companions.

Definitely something to get wild about.
