Fly My Pretties have announced Laughton Kora will join the collective as a special guest for both final encore shows this weekend in Auckland and Wellington.
Kora will take part in the A Story songs and perform some new collaborative material with Fly My Pretties in the extended jam session second half.
She joins returning 2006 Fly My Pretties member Adi Dick as one of the special guests who will celebrate the close of A Story at The Civic Theatre in Auckland tomorrow night, followed by the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington on Saturday.
Returning from London especially for these last shows, Dick was a rising star from The Return of Fly My Pretties with songs, Get Out and Foresight. He went on to release his debut solo album Our Place in 2007, before leaving New Zealand to try his luck in Europe.
Led by Black Seeds' frontman Barnaby Weir and backed by Loop, Fly My Pretties brings together more than 17 of New Zealand's top musicians in a live multimedia performance.
Fly My Pretties' A Story includes animated illustrations, live narration and historical film footage all weaved throughout the songs.
While sticking to the formula of bringing a diverse range of New Zealand musical talent together to write, tour and record, the first half of the encore shows will showcase Fly My Pretties A Story, with full narration from storyteller Dick Weir (Barnaby's father).
The second half jam session will feature some of the group's classic songs as well as the guest appearances from Laughton Kora and Adi Dick.
