Kiwi rock acts Shihad and The Checks will open for hard rocking Australian band AC/DC on their highly anticipated New Zealand tour next year.
The bands will perform at all three of AC/DC's New Zealand tour dates: January 28 and 30 at Westpac Trust Stadium in Wellington; and at Western Springs in Auckland on February 4.
Promoter Garry Van Egmond said the bands were an "awesome fit" for AC/DC.
"New Zealand will never have and probably never will again see a rock extravaganza of this calibre. It's huge. It's not just a concert. It's an event."

"NZ will never have and never will again see a rock extravaganza of this calibre"....hey Garry; did you forget that Shihad supported ACDC in 91, so, aaaah, we have actually. But that's all good! Keep it coming!!!
I was POSITIVE that Wolfmother was opening for them, that was announced earlier on and was part of the reason I purchased tickets.....Im pretty gutted. AC/DC will be Awesome don't get me wrong but Im disapointed by the opening bands!
I like AC/DC but the ticket price is not worth it, and I dislike The Checks and only like one release from Shihad( Devolve EP, which is thrash metal).
great - we get to see bald angus and granddad singing.
Lol Wolfmother sings like he thinks he's a sheep, a blacksheep with that mop of hair.
HELL YEAH! Mean az, Shihad are ssssoooooooo awesome and they are even better live, this makes the tickets for ACDC even more worth it :) If only Blindspott could open too... Man, I cannot wait!
Yay, I'm so excited. I grew up listening to AC/DC (I'm 20) and my Mum likes to tell people that my first word was thunder haha.
i Hope Karl The Bass player remebers The AC/DC kid from his old school and takes him along to meet them hahaha
Me & my partner are going to this yay can't wait, love shihad glad they are one of the opening acts
