Pack a jacket festival goers - rain is forecast to hit tomorrow's Big Day Out music festival at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland.
Big Day Out fans have enjoyed hot and sunny weather for the past few years, but MetService Weather Ambassador Bob McDavitt said that was likely to change tomorrow.
He told Stuff.co.nz Friday would be a "day of two parts".
"It will start well and end up with showers around 10pm," McDavitt said. That's around the time psychedelic British rock act Muse will be playing on the main stage.
"During the early afternoon full sunshine can be expected and the air temperature is likely to rise to 24 degrees, he said. "If you are in the full sun it will feel six degrees warmer than that."
He predicted a temperature of around 24 degrees in the afternoon, dropping to around 18 in the evening.
"The mosh pit may become moshier," McDavitt warned.
The last time the Big Day Out was drenched by rain was in 2002, when New Order, System of a Down and the Crystal Method were headlining. It sent many fans home early.
But tomorrow's rain is unlikely to match that, or the rain that fell at the 1996 event, which was so heavy the main stage moshpit turned into a mudbath while metallers Rage Against the Machine performed.
The Big Day Out 2010 is headlined by Muse and also features performances by Lily Allen, Peaches, Groove Armada, Dizzee Rascal, Mastodon, Passion Pit, Kora and Midnight Youth.
