Fall Out Boy have split up.

Frontman Patrick Stump - who is currently recording his debut solo LP - has confirmed he is no longer working with the group and doesn't think they will ever return from the hiatus they announced last November.

He told Spin magazine: "I'm not in Fall Out Boy right now. But one way or another, the band will always be around. Steven Tyler isn't in Aerosmith anymore, but his gravestone will probably say something about Aerosmith.

"Whether we play again or not, I don't know. If we do, it will be for the right reasons. If we don't, it will also be for the right reasons.

"I'm really not worried about Fall Out Boy. I'm so psyched about where I'm at right now, recording this solo album."

Following Patrick's comments, his bandmates Andy Hurley and Joe Trohman also revealed they are no longer in the group.

Drummer Andy tweeted: "I quit too."

Guitarist Joe added on his twitter page: "I just did interviews with Span Magazine, Rabbling Stone and Blunder about how much quitting I done. (sic)"

The trio's comment come after bassist and group spokesperson Pete Wentz admitted this week he "can't imagine" playing with Fall Out Boy again.

He tweeted: "A hiatus is forever until you get lonely or old. I don't plan on either. Can't imagine playing in FOB again."

He later added on his personal blog: "As a band we grew apart. Letting go of this giant part of my life has been hard."

A spokesperson would not comment on the band's future.

The band last performed to a small crowd at Vector Arena in Auckland in February, 2009. Reviewer Chris Schulz called concert "the blandest the venue had seen".

"They struggled to overcome the echo that resulted from the small crowd failing to fill the venue ... And Pete Wentz's weird musings and shouted song intros sure got tiresome," he said.

But he praised Stump for his "adept vocal delivery".

Look, lets just clarify this ACDC vs. FOB debate. They are both equally terrible (too hard to determine whether bogans are worse than emos).. and both should split up. Now.

I cant believe it. I really cant. they were always so stong together as a band. It really hits me deep knowing that a strong herted band that was formed so long ago has just fallen apart. i hope things turn out. Fob will always be my epic love.

Wow, I can't believe they broke up, out of all the shows I went to they were always great and really fun! It sucks that they grew apart, they were awesome live.

Its about time that all these no-good wanna be rock groups are realizing that they have no talent. Has anyone ever heard any of their songs, they are terrible, make absolutely no sense, and I cannot understand a word that the singer says- he just mumbles all of his songs, you need to have a copy of lyrics in hand to know what in the world was just said.

A previous poster said that they are WAY cooler than ACDC? I can't believe that comparison was just made, anyway...I guess because of all the cool in that band, they decided to break up (hopefully for good), but here in less than a year these "men" will kiss, make up, and lick each others wounds.
