Lesson in acoustic generosity
Grammy award-winning British singer and songwriter Imogen Heap performed an acoustic set in Christchurch last night to raise funds for an earthquake-hit school.
The sold-out concert, Songs for Christchurch, at the Aurora Centre was Heap's only New Zealand show.
It was also available online and broadcast to two satellite fundraising events for the school, Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti.
Heap was a member of the London-based duo Frou Frou, known for their atmospheric sounds. Her style straddles alternative pop/rock, Euro-pop and electronica.
Last night, Heap shared the stage with a band from Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti, Christchurch singer-songwriter Roseanna Gamlen-Greene, and Lyttelton-based collective The Harbour Union.
School board chairman Matthew Ayton said the school was keen to "lead the charge" back to the CBD.
All concert proceeds will be used to rebuild the school.
