Guns N’ Roses will finally release their long-awaited new album next month.

Chinese Democracy – which frontman Axl Rose has been working on for around 14 years – will hit the shops in the US on November 23, two days ahead of its scheduled worldwide release on November 25.

The band are believed to have completed the record – which cost a reputed US$30 million (NZ$49 million) - in April, although some reports suggest some finishing touches were made in June.

Fans keen to hear a preview of the album can buy upcoming video game Rock Band 2 which will feature Shacklers Revenge, while If the World can be heard over the closing credits Leonardo DiCaprio’s new film Body of Lies.

Guns N' Roses last release was 1993’s covers album The Spaghetti Incident? – the final recording to feature original members Slash and Duff McKagan, who played guitar and bass respectively.

In March, soft drinks giant Dr Pepper offered a free can of the beverage to every American if is released this year.

Axl responded on his blog by saying: “We were surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album Chinese Democracy, as for us, this came totally out of the blue."

Dr Pepper is yet to comment on the proposed release.

In August, blogger Kevin Cogill was arrested by FBI agents for leaking nine tracks from the LP on to the internet.
