Music magazine Volume is shutting up shop this week, seven months after its first issue.

Tomorrow's edition will be the APN-backed publication's last.  The 33rd and final issue of the street press magazine features a take-over by rap group Home Brew. The very first issue of the free magazine featured band The Drab Doo-Riffs.

Volume's editor Sam Wicks announced the news on Facebook this morning and in an interview on bFM he said the decision had been in the works for a while.

The free magazine was launched in September 2011 as an alternative music publication and was touted as head-to-head competition to Groove Guide, formerly edited by Wicks.
