There's good news and bad news for AC/DC fans waiting for the legendary hard rock band to announce concert details in New Zealand.

The Australian band, who released their acclaimed new album Black Ice this week, have started their 18-month world tour.

Kiwi fans are patiently waiting to see if they will include New Zealand in those tour dates.

The good news is that singer Brian Johnson has confirmed the band will be coming to New Zealand.

The bad news is, AC/DC probably won't be here until early 2010, a SonyBMG spokesperson told Stuff.co.nz.

Johnson told TVNZ current affairs show Close Up the band was looking forward to the tour, despite a five-year break since their last live show.

"As long as you've still that passion to go out and you don't have to use Viagra, I think we'll be happening."

"I've been working out, trying hard to get myself ready. I don't want to get on there and people to look up and go 'You should have seen him 10 years ago'."

He told Close Up concert goers would be surprised by the band's stage.

"The thing on its own at the start of the show is something worth seeing. Then you can go home. Forget the band. This thing is unbelieveable."

New Zealand fans are going to have to wait more than a year for the chance to see it.

I totally Agree, AC/DC are one of those "must see" before you die (or they die for that matter).

There are a Number of concerts that I have been to that have been once in a lifetime oppourtunities. I saw the Rolling Stones, The Whole of Rock 2 WGTN (Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Alice Cooper, White Snake and Poison) I saw Th' Dudes Reunion Tour in 2006, The Exponents 25th Anniversary Tour, I saw Dragon when they came to New Zealand, and soooo many more that I can barely remember. If I was to miss AC/DC I wouldn't have a reason to live. And I hope that if they come in 2010 that Angus Young doesn't die. Lets face it, he's not exactly Young any more.

Cant wait for the ultimate concert. People from teenagers to 6o and over are excited about this so hopefully they are gonna play somewhere bigger than the vector so we dont have to buy tickets from scalpers on trade me like we did for the chillis.
